Rotary India Award to Child In Need Institute for combating child mortality and promoting child survival in India.
Our partner Child in Need Institute (CINI) based in West Bengal in east India was awarded the prestigious 17th Rotary India Award 2008 in India’s national capital, New Delhi on 13 April 2009. This award is in recognition of the brilliant work by CINI to combat child mortality, promote child survival and the girl child in India. CINI was the only winner among the four short-listed Indian NGOs.
Driven by its mission of ‘Sustainable Development in Health, Nutrition, Education and Protection of Child, Adolescent and Woman in Need’, CINI today reaches out to nearly five million marginalized poor across the rural and urban areas in West Bengal, Jharkhand and other States of India’.
CINI's contribution has also been recognised earlier through the National Awards in Child Welfare from Govt. of India on two occasions in 1985 and again in 2004.
