Our programmes and projects often include the development of materials and resources for our partners and the communities they work in. These range from posters and pamphlets for conferences to printed directories, manuals, guidelines, face-to-face training and workshops.
Often developed as programmes unfold, and through the experiences of partners, our resources and the processes by which they are created, are always based on local needs, and this is key to their success.
For example, our Resource Centre Manual - developed over many years in response to requests from organisations for support in setting up resource centres - has recently been included by the International Council of Nurses in its Mobile Library for nurses working in remote areas in developing countries. It has also been translated into French and Arabic.

Making the most of learning
Healthlink Worldwide is often involved with the documentation and learning
components of programmes and the production of learning publications
is a valuable way to communicate the findings and lessons learned.
Recent involvement with the Support to the International Partnership
against AIDS in Africa led to the publication 'Building Bridges',
which pulled together the aspects of Healthlink Worldwide's
involvement with the programme including learning forums, needs assessments
and workshops.

Partner newsletters
Healthlink Worldwide has a long history of producing newsletters with
partners in developing countries. Accurate and easy-to-communicate
information is vital for people working in the fields of health and
development. At
the beginning of the millennium Healthlink Worldwide changed its
strategy in relation to producing newsletters with partners. A major ‘de-centralisation’ of
the process took place,
shifting away from partners working with adapted versions of newsletters
produced in the ‘North’.
Now partners, with support from Healthlink Worldwide, are in control
of producing regional newsletters, tailored to the needs of local
communities and relevant to their situations. Back issues of many
of our newsletters are still available free
of charge.

Information resources and Source
Healthlink
Worldwide is a founding partner in Source International Information
Centre: a collaboration between Healthlink Worldwide, Handicap International
and the Centre for International Child Health. The information centre
gives access to a wide range of health and disability information resources
and is free to access online. Our involvement with Source, and in particular
the creation of subject specific Key lists, is an important aspect
of many Healthlink Worldwide projects. Source also forms a major part
of our work with supporting resource centres.
Quest - for the right message
Finding the best way to communicate is not
always easy. Healthlink Worldwide has developed a training programme
- Quest - to build the capacity of organisations who want to make
the most of the opportunities to engage with their communities
and stakeholders. The training package, which can be used to develop
specific resources or at a more strategic level, is based on the
prinicples of participatory communication, empowerment, social justice
and local ownership.
