Memory work provides the tool to break through the barriers of discrimination
and stigma caused by HIV and AIDS by building strong bridges of communication

response to the HIV epidemic.

This manual, developed as part of the International Memory Project, is for trainers who wish to support parents, guardians and carers affected by HIV and AIDS. It is aimed at trainers with all levels of experience, but does require basic HIV and AIDS knowledge. The training can be delivered to people with varying levels of education and the manual can be adapted to suit local needs. It can also be used to train future trainers to deliver the course.

This publication pulls together all the research, findings and activities
that took place as part of the Disability KaR programme, a two year programme
funded by the Department of International Development. The publication was
written by Bill Albert for the Overseas Development Group at the University
of East Anglia. Researchers involved in the programme included over 40 disabled
and non-disabled people from developed and developing countries. Research
papers are available on a CD-ROM that supports the publication.

Healthlink Worldwide's participatory communication training package. Developed over the years from partners' experiences the training supports organisations in planning, researching, developing and evaluating communication and information resources. Often providing the foundations on which programmes and projects develop the training starts with a five-day face-to-face workshop with follow up meetings and activities.

The EQUI-TB Knowledge Programme at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine has been working since 2001 carrying out poverty focused research on tuberculosis to assure the quality of TB care for poor people in resource constrained settings. Healthlink Worldwide worked with the EQUI-TB programme to support the communication and dissemination component of the research programme.

Healthlink Worldwide supported the The Malaria Knowledge Programme at the Liverpool School of Tropical Hygiene (LST) to disseminate their programme findings to policy makers, donors and NGOS. The programme questioned how best to transform people’s vulnerability to malaria into resilience. The primary focus of research was on vulnerability, gender, community based initiatives, diagnostics and laboratory services, vector control and urban malaria.

The guide and video aim to help children, families and communities to identify and discuss ways to support children affected by HIV and AIDS.
